Bankruptcy & Creditor’s Rights

The Bankruptcy Section conducts programs on bankruptcy and creditors rights issues. We generally feature an annual update/news program by Bankruptcy Judge Samuel Bufford. As just a few examples, we’ve had lectures on letters of credit in bankruptcy, bankruptcy reform bill, the US Trustee, and the bankruptcy mediation program.

Leslie A. Cohen’s practice focuses on bankruptcy, insolvency and all related litigation, with a particular emphasis and expertise in entertainment and real estate bankruptcy and business reorganizations. Leslie received her Bachelor of Arts degree in 1977 from the University of California, San Diego and went on to obtain her law degree in 1980 from UCLA Law School, where she was the Associate Editor of the UCLA Law Review.

In addition to her legal practice, Leslie is an extremely active lecturer and author. She regularly speaks at the University of California, Los Angeles, at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, and has written such articles as “A Survey of Recent Bankruptcy Decisions Impacting Upon the Entertainment Industry,” 1992 Entertainment Publishing and the Arts Handbook. Among her many professional activities, Leslie has been the chair of the Century City Bar Association Bankruptcy and Creditors’ Rights Section since 1992.

Leslie is a member of the State Bar of California; American and Los Angeles County Bar Associations; Beverly Hills Bar Associations; American Bankruptcy Institute; Los Angeles Bankruptcy Forum; Financial Lawyers Conference; Women Lawyers Association of Los Angeles.
